Secret Santa generator
Draw Secret Santa or Kris Kringle names in a few seconds. Add keep-apart rules so couples do not get each other, then reveal the matches one at a time. Nothing is saved and no account is needed.
One name per line, or separated by commas.
The draw runs in your browser. No names are sent to us and nothing is saved.
What makes a Kris Kringle draw fair?
A fair draw has three properties. Everyone gives exactly one gift, everyone receives exactly one gift, and nobody draws their own name. Pulling folded paper out of a bowl can force a restart when the last person is left holding their own name.
The second thing groups want is keep-apart rules. Couples living in the same house already buy for each other, so drawing your own partner wastes one of the few gifts in the game. Blocking a pair sounds simple but it can make a draw impossible, and a lot of online tools quietly hand back a broken result instead of saying so. This one checks first and tells you when the rules cannot all be met.
The third thing is the part nobody plans for: the person buying for you has no idea what you want. A $20 budget and no information is how you end up with novelty socks. Sending around a few options each is one simple way to make the exchange work better.
Secret Santa generator questions
How does this Secret Santa generator work?
Type one name per line, add any keep-apart rules, then select Draw names. The draw runs in your browser and gives every person exactly one giver and one recipient, with nobody drawing themselves.
Is it really free with no sign up?
Yes. There is no account, no email and no payment. Names are never sent to our servers and nothing is saved, so refreshing the page clears the draw.
Can I stop couples from drawing each other?
Yes. Add a keep-apart rule for any two people and the draw blocks that pairing in both directions. You can add as many rules as you need.
What if no draw is possible?
Too many keep-apart rules can make a fair draw impossible, for example three people where two must avoid each other. The tool tells you straight away so you can remove a rule instead of getting a broken result.
What is the difference between Secret Santa and Kris Kringle?
They are the same game. Kris Kringle is the common name in Australia and Ireland, while Secret Santa is used more in the UK and United States. Some Australian workplaces shorten it to KK.
How many people do I need?
Three is the minimum for a draw where nobody gets themselves. The tool works for small families and for offices of a hundred or more.
Can the organiser be kept in the dark too?
Not with this browser tool, because the results appear on your screen. A Quokit exchange emails each person their match privately, so even the organiser never sees the full list.
How do I stop people buying the wrong thing?
Ask everyone for a short wishlist with a couple of options in the budget. It gives each buyer useful direction without removing the surprise.
