A fair draw has three properties. Everyone gives exactly one gift, everyone receives exactly one gift, and nobody draws their own name. Pulling folded paper out of a bowl can force a restart when the last person is left holding their own name.
The second thing is privacy. Each person should see only who they are buying for, and that includes the organiser. With a sign-up link the draw runs on our server and each person opens their own name on their own phone, so nobody can peek and nobody can draw twice.
The third thing is the part nobody plans for: the person buying for you has no idea what you want. A $20 budget and no information is how you end up with novelty socks. Sending around a few options each is one simple way to make the exchange work better.
How does this Secret Santa generator work?

Do I have to sign up?
For a shared draw, yes, and it takes a few seconds. Everyone signs in with one tap on Google or a one-time email code. There is no password and no form to fill in. It is what gives each person exactly one name and makes sure only they can see who they drew. It is free.
Can I stop couples from drawing each other?
Not with a rule yet. Until anyone has looked at their name, the person who made the draw can run it again from their controls, so a couple who drew each other can be fixed before the reveal.
What is the difference between Secret Santa and Kris Kringle?
They are the same game. Kris Kringle is the common name in Australia and Ireland, while Secret Santa is used more in the UK and United States. Some Australian workplaces shorten it to KK.
How many people do I need?
Three is the minimum for a draw where nobody gets themselves. A shared link holds up to 20 people. A free Quokit account runs bigger exchanges.
Can the organiser be kept in the dark too?
Yes. With a shared link the draw happens on our server, so you never see the pairs. You are in the draw from the start and you draw your name like everyone else.
Can I send the draw to a group chat?
Yes. Paste the link into WhatsApp, Messenger or email. Each person adds their own name and signs in with Google or a quick email code. That ties the name to them, so after the draw nobody else can see who they got, and they can open it on any phone.
Can we guess who our Secret Santa was?
Yes. The person who made the draw can switch on a guessing game, set a closing date, and reveal the answers when the gifts are opened. Only they can change those settings, from their own account.
How do I stop people buying the wrong thing?
Ask everyone for a short wishlist with a couple of options in the budget. It gives each buyer useful direction without removing the surprise.
